The objective of the course is to offer a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of the European Union, from the institutional and policy-making point of view. Along with the theoretical approaches of European integration, EU governance, and Europeanisation, the second part of the modules will be entirely focused on the institutional framework of the EU and its main components. The third and last part will provide an overview of the most important policy-making areas of the EU and will explore dynamics that rule the different sectors.
The course aims to give students the necessary knowledge and instruments to: Understand and critically assess theoretical and conceptual debates regarding the EU; Have a clear picture of the functioning of EU institutions; Be able to research and explain dynamics of EU policy-making.
